Everton Cemetery is located on Mattersey Road. The cemetery is maintained by the Everton & Scaftworth Joint Burial Committee, whose members are the Everton Parish Councillors. It is funded by Everton Parish Council, Scaftworth Parish Meeting and a small grant from Bassetlaw District Council.
Burial Committee meetings usually take place following Everton Parish Council meetings, either when there is business to transact or at least quarterly. The minutes of the meetings can be viewed on our Minutes & Publications page. We have recently reviewed the Cemetery Regulations The changes include the fact that monuments incorporating slabs are now permitted. The use of kerb sets remains prohibited (as in many cemeteries) in view of the problems of subsidence and maintenance. To view a copy of the Cemetery Regulations and current Cemetery fees please contact theclerk@evertonparishcouncil.org.uk
The new White Letter Box has been erected and the Scheme launched. Once the plaque is ready it will be sited at the base of the box.
Rededication Service Tuesday 28 th April 1:30pm
Two years ago funding was sourced from Bassetlaw District Council Heritage fund to restore the original decorative features on the war memorial. Over time these had been lost but now, due to voluntary efforts they are restored. The names of the fallen men
are inscribed on our fine grade two listed war memorial.
As a mark of respect and recognition for those 18 local men from Everton and Scaftworth parishes who fell in the first and second world wars and with the restoration work completed the Friends of Everton Cemetery Group, of Everton Parish Council have organised a rededication service. Led by Reverend Becky Hancock, Everton Primary School Council will lay crosses in memory of those fallen
local heroes.
After the short service around the war memorial there will be a general invitation to go back to the Sun Inn for a hot drink and a chat.
You are all welcome to attend and support this community event.
