September 2026 Update

The following items arose from the September 7th Meeting

The Updated Neighbourhood Plan:  A second consultation event will be held in The Village Hall in November .  Details to follow.
A Questionnaire on the long-term provision of cemetery plots is in preparation.

Update from Bassetlaw District Councillor Steve Pashley

  1.  Cllr Pashley replied to concerns raised by a member of the public that, despite an enforcement notice, further development is clearly visible on Mill Lane site.  He also reported that the Enforcement Team have taken legal action in response to persistent ofenders.  Action, while slow and piecemeal, is being taken.
  2.  He reported on the Electrical Safety Fund which offers to local charities, public bodies and registered not-for-profit organisations, safe removal or repair of faulty electrical goods.  For more details contact Electrical Safety First website.
  3. Local Council Elections will proceed next May; plans for Local Government Reform are deferred pending a nationwide review.
 

Notts Council Coucillor Mike Robertson was unable to attend but passed on information about the “Twenty’s Plenty” project.

The Poppy Project undertaken by the local WI and Knitting Group has achieved the remarkable feat of producing over 2,500 poppies constructed from wool, plastic and felt.  There will be displays of poppies in the village from October 25th.  These will include church and cemetery gates as well as various sites around the villages of Everton and Harwell.  The annual Sunday Memorial Service will be held at the Cemetery War Memorial.

An Honours Board to recognise the recipients of the Bassetlaw Achievers’ Award will be erected in the village hall in December 2026, and the portrait of King Charles III will be rehung.

A funding request for HEDS was granted; a generic funding request from Retford The Girl Guides Association has been deferred pending more detailed information being provided.

A letter was sent from The Parish Council in relation to noise complaints from people in the village.

Support for the proposed Digital Archive Project has been offered by Cllrs Wiles and Upton.

The Parish Council has approved the purchase of a portable projector to enhance the facilitation of meetings as well as local information sessions.
