Everton Parish Council

The following subjects arose from the April Meeting, held on March 30th:

Update from BDC Cllr Steve Pashley:

  1. Bassetlaw Museum is delighted to present a new exhibition of drawings and paintings created in response to its collection and the stories of the communities it serves. The works are by Christy Burdock whose practice is rooted in Britain’s regional history and heritage. Living in Central London, within walking distance of the Thames, she is drawn not to the capital’s well-trodden landmarks but to the quieter, richer stories found beyond it – places with depth and texture that reward close attention. Bassetlaw, and its remarkable museum, offered exactly that. Contact: Tina Masters, Media Officer Tel: 01909 533 533 Ref: PR 3187T
  2. A new law targets animal welfare: the government is introducing new legislation to ensure the welfare of primates in private ownership. Licences are available via Licensing@bassetlaw.gov.uk.
  3. Free Learn-To-Ride sessions supported by Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy: at Langold, Worksop and Harworth. (www.ticketsource.co.uk/clancy-briggs-cycling-academy)
  4. BDC is adding 24 new homes to its council stocks
  5. District Councillors’ grant allowances begin again and community groups wanting to request support should email steven.pashley@cllr.bassetlaw.gov.uk
  6. Finally there was an update on progress with outstanding Enforcement cases via a new Planning Enforcement Team Leader, Victoria Penny.

Parish Council Funding was granted for two local projects: WI/Poppy Knitters to increase the local respons to Remembrance 2026; and £500 for Garden Holders Association as part of plans to adorn our streets with floral tubs etc. In addition work is planned to renew the kissing gate off Chapel Lane.
